Transition care

The Association of British Neurologists supports the RCP’s young adult and adolescent initiative to improve healthcare outcomes for patients aged 16–24 years.

Some neurologists already undertake transition clinics with paediatric colleagues (in subspecialties such as epilepsy and neuromuscular disease). There remains a need to increase the profile of this type of specialist service and to ensure that it is appropriately supported by trusts and health boards across the UK.
