Accessing data for quality improvement

The Scottish Uveitis Network publishes evidence and guidance for the management of uveitis. It has developed guidelines for standards of care and treatment guidelines in Scotland.

The Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCOphth) and British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Rheumatology, have published guidelines (opens PDF, 58.57KB) for screening for uveitis in juvenile idiopathic arthritis.

The Uveitis Minimum Dataset for reporting will shortly be published on the National Ophthalmology Database Audit website. This will produce valuable clinical data for nationwide audit of practice and outcomes.

Diabetic eye disease

The RCOphth and NHS Connecting for Health ‘Do Once and Share’ initiative (opens PDF, 1.17MB) – provides a foundation for the development of linked information subsystems in primary care, diabetic retinopathy screening programmes and hospital eye clinics in order to support the care process for diabetic eye disease.

NHS England has published statistics and information regarding the diabetic screening programme in the UK.

Age-related macular degeneration

The RCOphth is conducting a feasibility study for national clinical audit for the treatment outcomes for age-related macular degeneration.
